I am always excited to turn the page to a new year … partly because that means I made it through the holidays.
Holidays feel so ðĪŠ for me. It is
not the most wonderful time of the year, for me anyway.
… and right now my family is saying ‘what’?!?
Don’t get me wrong, I very much enjoy spending time with family and friends and unconnecting for a bit, but the holiday months come with a side of hustle and bustle.
Is that bad? Not necessarily.
For me, maybe.
I’m a
very routine person, and honestly, the holidays knock me out of the park.
We enter November and for 2 months it’s back-to-back chaos. We are suddenly pushed into food planning and shopping sales, getting fall decor put up, then down and up with red and green, and working the Christmas budget and scheduling the celebrations.
It’s hard and I simply need my daily routine.
Maybe you can relate…
When holiday life is all over, it’s time to work on “re-entering” into the real, non-holiday world again and man, that is tough sometimes, I am still working on it.
I also realize some of this might be because I need to work on my boundaries in life – *add to new year resolutions – because admittedly, I do bring in things I don’t need by saying “yes” when I really mean “no.” #workingonit
What I do love about this time of year though are New Year resolutions – they are something I have done since I was young.
Like many people, I love a set of goals and a list of things to work on. They serve as a roadmap that keeps me on track and organized and let’s be real… I really love when I can check mark them off the list. âïļ
Over the years I have worked my New Year resolutions in many different ways but however I go about it, I start my year with ideas, intentions and motivation.
I have made fancy lists in special notebooks, and graphics, created single-word goal lists, created organized category lists, wrote lists in my calendar (still do) and a big one … cut-outs from magazines, pulled out the good ol’ glue stick to paste them to a poster board (younger years ð) that hung on my bedroom wall.
Last year, I snagged a Vision Board template from
Studio A Designs and created a 2024 board. As a visual learner, it is great to put my ideas, intentions, and motivation into one space through photos and simple words that mean something to my year. (without magazines and a glue stick ð)

ïŧŋAnd I still like lists. ð
No matter how I ‘display’ my resolutions, I make sure I am detailed on the goals I want to achieve, keeping them in a place I will see often to be reminded why I am doing what I am doing day-to-day, month-to-month. #itsinthedetails
As a business owner, I start my year with a refreshed business list of ideas and intentions that I check on consistently and add to throughout the year.
Business resolutions truly are a roadmap that helps keep you organized. It is like a daily ‘To Do List’. Without it, you may not see where you want to go, the focus is fuzzy.
It doesn’t mean you need to be a New Year’s resolution person, but when it comes around, it is great to visit your business goals, however that works for you.
I’m curious – how do you tackle New Year’s resolutions or goal setting for your business? Do you have a #1 goal you want to achieve this year?
